Introduction to Fitness Pilates
What is Fitness Pilates?
Fitness Pilates is a modern version of Pilates, embracing all the traditional principals and many of the exercises found in conventional Pilates, and which are continually evolving in accordance with current scientific and biomechanics research.
It offers a controlled strength, stretch and flexibility workout, putting emphasis on freeing up the spine, pelvis, hips and shoulders to improve posture and breathing, coordination and balance, and to help manage back pain, stress and flexibility issues. Each session starts with a standing dynamic warm up encouraging you to find your own range, strength and stretch. Floorwork may include equipment such as soft balls (pictured right), foam rollers, resistance bands, weights or fitballs.
Fitness Pilates is aimed at all levels, ages and abilities. It is not rigid or regimented, but offers options and choices to help each participant to build strength from the inside out.
